24th September 2016
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: SW
Wind Stength: F3/4
Surf / Sea State: Bumpy
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 21.85 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 12.4 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Forecast was great all week 20kts and low tide about midday and sunny suggested the perfect windsurf day. Reality was different. Arrive around 11 with Craig and Lee 6.5 / 7.5 and the wind fresh day sunny. Sailing was angled to kite zone near the river mouth, unless you held a tight beat like Ian and sailed well out to sea. Low around midday killed the wind for a while. Several sailors arrive with a big turn out of the usual crew. Rigged 6.7 Hellcat / 130L Goya, the wind died be4 launch, so rigged 7.3 North E type everyone else was planning except me. Ian was flying on 6.2 with most sailors on 6.5. Had one run on the 130L then switch to JP146L hoping. Had one or 2 runs but was just under and getting very frustrated and tired not planning especially as most were planning!
The wind died on everyone after an hour so it was back to solving the worlds problems and the El Medano trip which now number 15 sailors. The wind came back for 30 minutes and had a decent sail, then died again. I should have simply rigged my favoured 7.8M North at the start - job done.
Every time I do that the wind picks up, leaving me with 2 rigs to pack up. The sea was getting bigger and the river mouth foaming. Went through it thankfully powered up and there was some serious waves to ride coming back in but again the wind went light for my 7.3 but others were planning pretty good on 6.5, a lot longer. Poor Pete L rigged just ready to sail and the wind died again. By 3 I had enough - cussing why the hell I don't simply rigged 2 sails and sail all day! Colsey was flying and a Full on Slalom Severne 7M, but said the sea was getting big and lumpy and the tide was now coming in fast making shore breaks big. Great time to pack up, then the wind died completely about 3.30. The weather guys got it all wrong except it was sunny and warm. To ruin the rest of the day my big horse gamble which I waited 2 months to lay (Lady Aurelia from the US) got beat just on the line. It was doubled with Man U to beat Leicester, yep MU thrashed Leic, aarrgghhh!
